Please include your macOS version, the PlaceVault version (PlaceVault › About PlaceVault) and what you were doing. A diagnostics report helps: Help › Export Diagnostics… saves a text file you can attach (it contains no places or file names). For import problems, say which app the file came from and, if you can, attach a small sample file.
Common questions
My GPS device doesn't appear.
Use a data cable (not charge-only), unlock the device, and quit the device maker's sync app, Image Capture and Photos, which can hold the device. MTP-only devices appear under “MTP devices” in Send to Device.
Routes are straight lines.
Road routing needs PlaceVault Pro and either an offline routing pack that covers the route or “Use Apple Maps when no offline pack covers the route”. Pick a profile with the chips in the inspector's Points tab.
How do I get maps for my country?
Offline Maps › Extract Region downloads your area from a worldwide map build. The pack catalog also has ready-made regions with routing and place search.
How do I use my library on two Macs?
Settings › Library › Move Library… and choose a folder in iCloud Drive on both Macs. Changes are merged automatically; if both Macs edited at the same time, PlaceVault asks how to combine them. Nothing is deleted by a merge.
How do I edit the shape of an area?
Select the area: drag its corners on the map, ⌥-click an edge to add a corner, select a corner and press ⌫ to delete it — or edit the coordinates in the inspector.
Where is my library?
Settings › Library shows the location, moves it, and makes backups. Hourly snapshots are kept in the library's Backups folder.
Restore my purchase.
PlaceVault › Restore Purchases, or Settings › Pro › Restore Purchases.

See the privacy policy. The PlaceVault app collects no personal data.
